Horizontal Rule
A horizontal rule is used to place a line across the width of the entire browser window. Just like the break tag <br /> and img tags, it is an empty (orphan) tag. It has no closing tag. This tag is used to help separate your web page into different sections.

Attributes
Attributes can be used to change the width of the horizontal rule. In the example above the horizontal rule will always cover 50% of the browser window. It doesn't matter if the windows grows bigger or smaller the line will cover 50% of the window.
