Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks are an essential part of the World Wide Web. A hyperlink, also called a link, is an element used to connect one Web page to another Web page that’s located on the same server or used to link Web pages located on a different Web server located anywhere in the world. Clicking a hyperlink allows you to move quickly from one Web page to another, and the user does not have to be concerned about where the Web pages reside. You also can click hyperlinks to move to a different section of the same Web page.
A hyperlink can be a word, group of words, or image that you can click on to jump to another document. A link is usually displayed on a webpage as blue underlined text that, when clicked takes the user to a new page or to a new location on the same web page. When you move the cursor over a link in a Web page, the arrow will turn into a little hand. Hyperlinks are essential to making the internet work. Without hyperlinks we would have to manually type in the URL of every web page that we visit. Gross! Can you image! Hyperlinks are what make the internet what is it. Hyperlinks - HTML
The <a> tag is used to create an anchor to link from, the href attribute is used to address the document to link to, and the words between the open and close of the anchor tag will be displayed as a hyperlink on the web page.
Don't forget to include the http:// when linking to an external web page. When linking to an internal web page (another page in your site) simply write the name of the page, <a href="mypage.html">text</a> Attributes
