Interface - Getting Started Page
When publisher is started, the getting started window is displayed with numerous publication types to choose from. Once you select a publication type the Customization Pane opens, giving you options to change your publication. You can see a thumbnail image of the page, the page size, and options to choose a color scheme and/or the font scheme.
Publication Window
After clicking create, the publication window opens, displaying tools for working with the publication as well as information about the publication.
Title Bar
Displays the title of the current publication. Remember that if the title is "Publication 1", it is a message to yourself that the publication has not been saved yet. Remember to save and to save often.
Menu Bar
The menu bar allows you to select commands and perform actions. Everything that you can do to a publication is available in the menu from the drop down lists.
Tool bars
As with most Microsoft Office products, there are tool bars. The tool bars displays buttons for the most commonly used features of the program. The buttons allow you to quickly perform actions, such as save and print, with one click. It saves you time from having to search of the options above in the menu bar.
Objects Toolbar
Your new best friend. The objects toolbar allows you to add and change objects on the publication page. Some of the objects include text boxes and graphics. You will use this toolbar most often. Just click on an object that you want to add and place it on the publication window. Whamo, instant object!
The Task Pane
The task pane allows you to select design options for your publication. The pane will change and update depending on the job you are working on. For example, it will change to the Clip Art task pane when you want to insert a clip art image. The default Format Publication task pane allows you to change the color and font schemes, as well as the page size.
Publication Page
The publication page is the page as it will appear when printed. What you see is what you get! Don't forget that the dashed blue lines that you see on the publication page are the margin guides and will not appear when the publication is printed
